What is spam
|
Definitions
Spam is the general term for emails sent through without your asking for it, from someone with whom you have no previous connection, either directly or indirectly.
Unsolicited EMails are emails sent through without your asking for it, from someone with whom you have had previous connection, either directly or through someone else.
Characteristics
Spam varies enormously. Typically, it is sent by a sender using an invalid email address (10%) or sent to you quoting a false email address for you (22%) or sent to you by someone other than in your address book (68%).
Usually, spam seeks to sell you something, but not always.
